Artist Statement
My work embodies a realm of uncertainty with the intention to explore ambiguity within familiarity. I paint creatures of familiar forms while rejecting a rational or literal portrayal of life. I feel that these creatures create both discomfort and curiosity within the observer, a lack of trust with the very thing that invites you to look at it. I want to understand the attraction of the disturbed and the indistinguishable. Mutilating the norms of what should and shouldn’t get attention and exploration.
